Add Your Voice

Here are just some of the ways you can propel the work of MRA and add your voice to our advocacy for water quality and dam safety:

Follow Us and Spread the Word. Join our mailing list. Stay current on MRA news and information. Follow our Facebook page. Read the local, state and national press coverage. Encourage others to follow us.

Join the Team. Anyone who wants to be close to the action is welcome to attend meetings, provide input, and lend a hand. Introduce yourself.

Donate. Your 501(c)3 tax-deductible donations allow us to run a strong communications program, develop partnerships, do education events, and more. Visit the Rockbridge Conservation donation page. Please be sure to designate your giving to “Maury River Alliance.”

Attend Public Meetings. Lend visible support at Supervisor, Council and other official meetings when you hear that MRA is on the agenda.

Write Letters. Let the reading public know why you endorse MRA. Encourage others to add their voice. Write to local, regional and state officials to request support for MRA’s initiatives. Don’t be shy about asking for suggestions.

Grant Writing. Non-profits need dollars to fuel growth and impact, and there are more opportunities than we have time and talent to pursue. If you can help with grant applications, please raise your hand.

Do Research. If you like to do online research, let us know how much time you can offer. We’ll check our wish list for something suitable.

Take Pictures. When you’re near the Maury, observe the water condition. If it’s yellow or green and quite cloudy, snap a photo or two and send them along. Please mention in your email the date, time and approximate location. (And yes, photos taken when the river is at its best and most pleasing are also welcome!)
